painting cups

Spending my friday night painting polystyrene cups (it really is third year) to sample my thermo inks the quickest and best way. I figured if I put inks onto cups which I then fill with hot water I can test the colour change easily ... so, here's a few testers.. i'm learning a lot!

when I grow up..

Finally figured an understandable theme for my drawings :) having noticed in a tutorial i like to give my characters add-ons for personality like a crown or a big bow, my fellow decorative artists suggested it's like when a child imagines what they'd like to be and look like when they grow up. With this is mind I've been e-mailing my bum off to as many primary schools as possible asking for the help of a few young creatives to give me first hand research and find out what the younguns of today want to be when they grow up.

I put together a little questionnaire, here's one my nephew zach filled in for me... i really love it. big thanks to my ma, step pa and rest of the balls for helping !! I'm gonna develop my drawings directly from this research. A good handful of schools have said they'd help, maybe i'll help in the making of a few new artistees!

Babiekins Magazine has helped my drawings along this week..

and colour is becoming very important, once spelt right. I've decided to use thermochromic inks which change colour as warmed up and cooled down... idea: products to teach palettes?

The holidays are always made more fun when I get to put on workshops for Arts & Museums Learning at New Walk Museum ... it's so nice to see the kids get into the activities we planned, including my nephew zach this time with his fruit man stan, kiwi sofa and strawberry lampshade!

My photochromic (light reactive) and thermochromic (heat reactive) pigments arrived! And so, new designs... boggled my mind over the last week, I hope there to your liking..

Dec Arts Naked Calendar Launch

hello friends,

I have been such a buzzin busy bee and not keeping you up to date... I will have a blog evening soon bombard with third year news. But for now.. here's a promo poster I've made for Dec Arts very own CLUBNIGHT at Market Bar... if you live in notts I don't want any excuses for not seeing you there! and if you don't, get on a train and come party! Proceeds are going to fundraising for our degree show and we will have our NAKED CALENDARS on sale!
